Egg Timer
A dedicated timer with one-tap presets for soft, medium, and hard-boiled eggs, plus a full countdown display and alert sound when time's up.
Boiling an egg looks like it should be one of the simplest cooking tasks that exists, and yet it's one of the most commonly gotten-wrong โ the difference between a runny yolk, a jammy one, and a chalky, overcooked one is often a gap of less than two minutes in the pot. That narrow window is exactly why a dedicated egg timer earns its place as its own tool rather than just being "use the countdown timer and remember the numbers yourself": the numbers are specific enough, and the cost of forgetting them is annoying enough, that having presets removes a genuine point of failure.
The three standard targets โ roughly six minutes for a soft, jammy yolk, eight for medium, and ten for a fully firm hard-boiled egg โ are widely cited starting points rather than a rigid formula, since actual results shift slightly with egg size, starting temperature, and altitude. That's true of basically every kitchen timer preset; the value isn't precision to the second, it's removing the mental overhead of "wait, was it seven minutes or eight?" while you're mid-recipe.
This tool exists specifically so you don't have to open the general-purpose countdown timer and manually type in a duration every time โ tap a preset, press start, and get an alert the moment it's done, freeing up your attention for the rest of whatever else is happening in the kitchen at the same time.
- Tap a preset (soft, medium, or hard), or just use the default.
- Press Start.
- You'll hear a sound and see a message once the timer finishes.
They're common starting points (6/8/10 minutes from boiling) โ actual timing can vary slightly with egg size and altitude.
This tool is preset-only for simplicity โ use the general Countdown Timer if you want a fully custom duration.
