Live Punch Clock
A live clock-in / clock-out tool that tracks your current session in real time and keeps a running log of every session for the day.
The physical time clock โ the kind where employees insert a paper card to get it stamped with the current time โ is one of the oldest pieces of workplace technology still recognizable today, dating back to the 1880s as an early attempt to record labor hours more precisely than a supervisor's memory or a handwritten ledger. The core idea it introduced, that a neutral, automatic system rather than a person should record exactly when work started and stopped, is the same idea underneath every modern time-tracking app.
What distinguishes a live punch clock from an after-the-fact hours calculator is timing: instead of typing in your start and end times once you're already done, you press a button the moment you actually start, and another the moment you actually stop, with the system tracking the elapsed time live in between. That real-time nature matters for accuracy โ it's much easier to press a button in the moment than to correctly remember exactly what time you sat down two hours ago.
This version keeps a running log of every session for the day, showing the in-time, out-time, and duration for each entry as you go. It's intentionally a live, in-session tool rather than a permanent record โ for calculating pay or totals from hours you already know, the Work Hours Calculator elsewhere on this site handles that after-the-fact math instead.
- Press Clock In to start tracking.
- Press Clock Out when you're done.
- Your session appears in the log below with duration.
No โ this is a live, in-session tool and the log resets when you leave the page. For a permanent record, use the Work Hours Calculator to log totals manually.
Yes โ that tool is for entering times after the fact; this one tracks a session live, in real time, as it happens.
